Chase has a job!!

Chase has a job!! After his interview a few weeks ago, Chase was offered the Pharmacy Manager position at Kmart in West Jordan. He starts this upcoming Wednesday with his training until he gets his pharmacist license. He takes his boards on the 7th and the 11th of July and will hopefully get his license soon after that so that he can start making full wages. He is very excited to be offered this position and we are both excited that we won't have to move to find a job. Now I get to start setting up the nursery!

I went to another midwife appointment on June 15th. They checked all the normal things and we heard the heartbeat as soon as she put the dopler on my belly. That means the baby is getting bigger! My belly sure is growing! I'm starting to feel the pressures of the extra weight on my body, and I'm not done yet! All I know is that I never want to weigh this much normally! It hurts my joints and it is hard to get around! I have a hard time staying on my side while I'm sleeping, which wakes me up in the middle of the night a lot. Hard to get a good night's sleep. Chase is pretty good about making sure I stay on my side. He already loves his little baby so much! We have been learning more about nutrition and anatomy in our Bradley class. My diet has changed a lot and as I drink my green smoothies, I just hope the baby appreciates the sacrifices made for her, because I really don't like green veggies!! I've started planning baby showers with the help of amazing friends and amazing sisters-in-law and sister. I'm very excited to be able to decorate the baby's room and fill her closet!

We have a new front office girl at Dr. Noorda's that started a few weeks ago named Staci. She's pretty awesome and learns really fast. She fits in with our office so well and we all just love her! I was just counting and I only have 11 weeks left of work until I'm done working at Dr. Baird's all together and take my maternity leave at Dr. Noorda's. Ahhh! I'm going to be very sad to leave Dr. Baird's office. I really love working there, but Dr. Noorda's office will always be my family and I could never leave them! There are so many patients that I will miss seeing at Dr. Baird's office. You never realize the connection and relationship you build with your patients until you have to leave them.

We went to Cherry Hill water park with Mike and Melissa the day before Father's Day again this year. Mike enters in the Father's Day musical chairs contest for prizes and gets free passes into Cherry Hill for it. We spent the late morning there. There's not a whole lot to do there but it was nice a relaxing for me because I was feeling particularly lazy that day! The water in the lazy river was really warm and the kids loved to be in it. Everyone else went on the bigger slides and then we took off. We had lunch at In N Out and then we met up with our friend Tessa to drive up to Park City to see Nick finish his Ragnar race. He got to hang out with us for a little while before his team finished. We went back to their house after and had dinner. We always love hanging out with them!

We decided to take an impromptu trip to Phoenix for the weekend before Chase starts working on Wednesday. We drove down on Thursday night after work and got there at 4am... pretty late... Sometimes I really don't know how we make it, but we trade off and take breaks so that we stay alert. I think we have some help staying alert too. So after sleeping in a little on Friday, we went grocery shopping, set up my parent's new pack and play for their upcoming granddaughters, and then went swimming. We went to dinner at Olive Garden as a surprise birthday dinner for my little brother Corey. Saturday, we went over to the house Corey was house sitting at and had a family birthday pool party. We made up pulled pork sandwiches, swam, watched a movie, and went on a Dairy Queen run. We had a great time with family and had a very relaxing day. Around noon on Sunday we drove back home back to real life.

They can't wait for their new granddaughters!

Dr. Chase Straw

Chase is officially a Doctor of Pharmacy! I am so proud! My family came into town from AZ on Thursday afternoon (5/31) right before Chase and I left to go to his senior banquet at La Caille.  We had a good dinner, watched a slideshow, and they did a raffle (Chase won a $50 Amazon gift card), and gag prizes for some students.

Chase and his best buddy Jake

Friday, we went shopping down in Provo at the BYU bookstore, the Mall, Seagull Book, and DI.  We found a couple items of maternity clothing and I found a dresser for the baby's room at DI.  Then we went to dinner at Tepanyaki for Bethany's birthday.

You get ice cream for being a graduate too! (And his wife!)

When we got home, Chase, James, and Scott went out shooting.  Chase has been dying to go shooting forever, so I'm glad there were some guys here to go with him.  The rest of us worked on the food for the BBQ after the graduation the next day.  My dad and I went to pick up chairs and tables from cousin Kim and everyone helped set up and decorate the clubhouse for the BBQ.  Saturday was the big day! We woke up early to get Chase up to the UofU by 8:15.  After waiting and searching for the shuttle, we finally made it over to Kingsbury Hall and took our seats that Chase's family had saved for us (thanks guys!).  We were pretty close to the stage and got to see Chase very well.  The graduation was pretty short, which is always nice and Chase got his Doctoral hood after he walked across the stage.  We got to take pictures outside when it was over and then made our way back home for the celebration.  A lot of family and friends came to the BBQ to celebrate Chase's huge achievement and we were so grateful! Thank you all for coming and showing your support for Chase over the years! We spent the afternoon cleaning up and went to see a movie that night.  Sunday, we all went to church and got to see Chase teach his Sunday School class (he did so well!). We spent the afternoon relaxing and spending time together.  We stayed up late going through baby stuff that I have already received/borrowed and visiting because my family was leaving the next morning.  It was so much fun to have them all here.  I loved having a full house!

We all took a trip to Target to register for baby items.  We were there for probably close to 3 hours figuring out what we needed.  It was a lot of fun and brought back memories of registering for our wedding.  I was glad we could all go together and that I could get advice from my mom and sister.  Chase and I went to Walmart the next day after my family had left and registered there too.  It was not as much fun.  It took about an hour to get started because their instructions were not clear at all.  Registering is fun stuff!

Chase was playing with the toys from the beginning!

We started our Bradley Method birthing classes last Tuesday.  It is 12 weeks long, every Tuesday.  There are 4 couples in our class.  We learned about relaxation, exercises to help during delivery, and nutrition.  We made a visit to Sunflower market to get some yummy produce on our way home so that I can have good nutrition for the rest of my pregnancy.  Its tough to make sure I get enough green vegetables (I'm trying out green smoothies...) and enough protein for brain development, but I'm getting used to it.  Looking forward to learning more at our next classes.

My belly has grown significantly over this past week! The baby is kicking me like crazy! Still feeling pretty good but sometimes I get uncomfortable while sitting.

June 9 - 26 weeks 5 days

Chase had 2 interviews for jobs this past week and we will hopefully hear back from them this coming week! Cross our fingers!!
